We’re delighted to share that the IEA General Assembly (GA) for 2025 is off and running. Our annual GA allows members to actively take part in the overall governance and development of IEA.
IEA is a member-led organization, and membership is open to any institution that has a strong research tradition and is concerned with promoting, supporting or conducting educational research related to student achievement. IEA is currently made up of over 60 member countries and partners ranging from research institutes and universities, to ministries of education. Representatives from the institutions in each of the countries that are members of IEA comprise the GA, and during the annual meeting members can make decisions on IEA strategy and any new initiatives to be launched.
IEA works cooperatively with all our members and partners to help and support the wider community and bring a collaborative approach to all our activities; every member and partner has an equal voice.
The annual GA meeting is a vital event for us, and one we greatly look forward to each year. It is truly a gathering of major international importance for education policy and practice, and it is always inspiring to connect with members so dedicated to evaluating, understanding, and improving outcomes for children in our world’s schools.
Thank you to our hosts, the wonderful team at the National Institute of Educational Assessment (INEE) of Spain.
Today began with an opening address from Secretary of State for Education, Abelardo de la Rosa. He beautifully summed up the spirit of the General Assembly, and of IEA, in saying: "May these days turn evidence into action."
We look forward to a productive week in Madrid!
